Danielle and Jamie had a great cocktail wedding at Alloy Restaurant in Calgary, it was a day full of quiet emotional moments between family, and big belly laughs. Here’s more about their day in their own words.

Neither Jamie nor I had given much thought about what our weddings would look like while growing up. We had a general idea from the movies we watched and weddings we attended, but it wasn’t until we were engaged when we began to formulate our day. Luckily we were both on the same page in terms of our priorities for the day of: delicious food & drink, great DJ, a beautiful venue that would need minimal additions and more importantly, awesome photographers!

By the end of our engagement we were ready to be married to one another. When the day finally came, we had such confidence in all of the decisions we had made and the people that we had trusted to help make the day what it would be, that it was so easy to just let it all happen. It felt like a weight had lifted when we final married each other.

For us, our priority was to have a lavish honeymoon and not break the bank on the actual wedding. We decided to stay in Calgary to keep extraneous costs low while also thinking of our guests as 70% of the attendees were from Calgary. We chose Alloy restaurant as the venue because the food is delicious, service is awesome, and the restaurant is beautiful on its own without decorations. The owners and managers of Alloy were also so easy to work with which helped keep the stress to a minimum.

There was something we enjoyed about every part of the day, however, the highlight was our ceremony as we were able to make it our own and finally marry one another. We also enjoyed our cocktail hour and dance as it was such a celebration and we had so much fun just being with our guests.

We loved absolute every detail from that day. I loved my dress and how elegant it looked. The boys looked awesome in their suits. We loved the hanging flowers as you entered the restaurant as well as the bride and bridesmaid bouquets.

We looked at many different photographers that were based in Calgary and found that all could take lovely pictures of inanimate objects; however, Abby and Dave best caught the energy and love between the bride, groom and guests. The moments that they capture are exactly what we want to look back on. Hands down, the best wedding photos we have seen to date.

The stress, anxiety, tears and time spent planning your wedding will be worth it! More importantly, choose amazing photographers as the day goes by so fast and you miss so much while being in the moment. You want to look back on your pictures fondly and relive the day!
